Last week, Foodirectory attended the grand opening of AW Kitchen second outlet at Plaza Indonesia (Jakarta Pusat) and have an opportunity to meet celebrity Chef Akira Watanabe!
Italian Touch
Short story about AW Kitchen, this was a Japanese-Italian restaurant serving Italian food with Japanese touch ingredients. Their first outlet in Indonesia was in Plaza Senayan and already have so many good review among all the food lovers and food bloggers!

AW Kitchen's Team Preparation
Chef Akira Watanabe prepared lunch set menu called Omakase and presents his special dishes. Before that, what do you know about Omakase? From what we heard, it means a surprise set menu prepared by the Chef. Everyday there will be different menu to choose and yes it was all by the Chef decision to pick what you will get in your Omakase set menu.
When the event was started, they introduced us with tantalizing and unique appetizer. Lets begin!
Beet-Root Expresso Soup
The first appetizer was Beet-Root Expresso Soup, an espresso size of soup which has tasty and sweet flavours with a coconut foam and kind of herbs on top. The beetroot tasted so well when we take the first sipped, a one shot cup with unique taste!
Chu-Toro Tuna & Red Snapper Carpaccio
Second appetizer, Chu-Toro Tuna & Red Snapper Carpaccio, thinly sliced of tuna fish and red snapper dressed with ikura, tobiko and crysanthenum flower. So fresh and the taste of each fish was mixed perfectly with great texture! The Chu-Toro Tuna has soft and tender texture with a light kick of sour and salty taste. While the red snapper tasted light and has spicy-mild after taste.
Hokkaido Crab with Ikasumi Spaghettini Tomato Sauce
The main course of this set was so adorable and delicious! Like the first one we got, Hokkaido Crab with Ikasumi Spaghettini Tomato Sauce. The combinations of garlic with tasty Hokkaido Crab and sweet squid ink spaghetti was so goood!!! The savory taste from the crab broth as their seasoning and the crab meat was two of our top highlights for this menu!
Wagyu Tenderloin Wrapped in Baked Potato & Truffle Oil
Who can resist this?? Such a mouthwatering Wagyu Tenderloin. The wagyu was wrapped in shredded potato and pan-fried so all the juices from the wagyu was still inside and make the dish even better!
Take a closer to this, the wagyu was cooked until its turn to medium level. The potato tasted so well, crisp outside texture and lovely aroma from truffle oil. How about the tenderloin?? It just melted in mouth with all the juices. So delicious!!
BUT! This dish wasn't available to order for public, it was a special dish from Chef Akira himself and maybe if you want to try this so badly you can ask first from AW's staff. So do you want to try this??
Lychee Mousse
Such a freshen dessert! The lychee mousse absolutely perfect to finished the incredible dinner set. It looks like a pannacota at first but it was a mango sorbet combined with rambutan and meringue (what is this?)
Overall the combination of sweet and sour from this dessert succeed to make a beautiful ending!
